Cancellation of Registered Documents in Kerala by IG of Registration

Registration IG can cancel registered deed in some cases

If someone has falsely personated another, and got registered by a registration officer any deed, which is detrimental to the interest of another person, the registration of such deed can be cancelled by the Inspector General of Registration (IG of Registration) in Kerala, under Section 83 A of the Registration Act, 1908.

Aggrieved person need to make an application

For cancelling the registered deed, the aggrieved person need to make an application in prescribed form to the I G of Registration in Kerala State.

Deputy IG needs to make an enquiry before canceling

Before acting upon the application by the I G of Registration, the matter should be enquired into by an officer not below the rank of the Deputy Inspector General of Registration in the Department of Registration, Kerala State.

Aggrieved person can file appeal to the government

Any person aggrieved by the order of cancellation of the Inspector General of Registration under Section 83A, can file an appeal before the Government of Kerala within thirty days from the date of receipt of such order.

The Government shall pass an order confirming, modifying or cancelling the order of the Inspector General of Registration as they deem fit.
