The Supreme Court (SC), in Shivangi Bansal v Sahib Bansal [2025 INSC 883] directed an influential woman and her family to issue a public apology for harassing her former husband, and his family by filing multiple frivolous cases against them.
After their separation in 2018, the parties have filed several cases/ complaints/ legal proceedings etc. against each other and their family members before various Courts/ Authorities.
The court directed the woman and her parents to issue an unconditional apology, which must be published in the national editions of one prominent English and one Hindi newspaper. Additionally, the apology must be published and widely circulated across all major social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and similar channels.
The wife and husband and the family members of both husband and wife have agreed that they shall not file or initiate any future litigation, petition, case, complaint or otherwise arising out of these or related matters, in any judicial or quasi-judicial or regulatory or administrative forum or any other forum.
However, the apology shall not be construed as an admission of liability and shall have no bearing on the legal rights, obligations, or consequences arising under law.
